The US Air Force has the responsibility of providing safety from air attacks by foreign invasion or all other forms of terrorism. It mainly protects the US airspace, and in doing so it enables American citizens to enjoy state security and peace of mind. The US Air Force has to take into account a myriad of issues in order to achieve its constitutional mandate. The air force department is charged with the responsibility of maintaining peace and security within the airspace borders of the country. All these organizational efforts are geared towards providing unprecedented offensive power in the airspace and operational independence in the management of the affairs of the US Air Force. This paper analyses the organizational efforts that are key to the success of the United States Air Force. Moreover, the paper examines the above factors in order to illustrate how they are useful in the success of the US Air Force in dealing with the evolving airspace together with the transnational susceptibilities.
The US Air Force has a number of objectives to achieve. This includes pursuit of sophisticated technology, proper delegation of duty, provision of resources and favorable environmental conditions, superior communication systems and lines, cost saving strategies, command structure, meticulous training methods, and information dominance among others. As the organization that is tasked with securing the American airspace, the US Air Force must put in place mechanisms that would help the organization meet its objectives easily.
Firstly, technology refers to the mastery use of innovative machines tools and techniques with the intention of completing a given task. The use of technology is paramount in the air force of the United States of America in the execution of its responsibilities and obligations. Technology is the most dominant factor in the determination of the success of any given organization and it should be pursued regardless of the cost (Boppana & George, 2011). The use of technology ranges from the production of sophisticated weapons in the protection of airspace and the sovereignty of the American people. Successive handling of the traditional and emerging airspace vulnerabilities requires extensive knowledge about technology and unrivalled leadership abilities by the distinguished leaders of the US Air Force. The application of technology is evident in the US Air Force due to the use of predatory and deadly weapons such as US Air Force bombers, US B-66 Destroyer, and the F-105 Thunderchiefs among others. These weapons were in full force during the successful completion of the Vietnam terror in 1966. The application of technology is also evident during the just concluded terrorism war in Afghanistan and Iraq culminating in the capture of Osama Bin Laden.
Another key factor that determines the success of the US Air Force in dealing with air attacks by terrorists and evolving airspace attacks involves the provision of the necessary resources and delegation of duty and responsibility to the subordinate members of the organization. The delegation of duty should be done hand in hand with authority to enable the junior officers to execute their responsibilities. The delegation of duty and authority enables the superiors to focus on issues that are more pertinent whereas the junior members of the Air Force are motivated to serve the country better. Each person in the Air Force should be delegated a duty that he or she is best-suited for. It should be strictly done on merit and not because of nepotism or racism.
This leads to greater coordination of the efforts of the US Air Force and ultimate success, leading to the realization of the main objective of the department, which is maintaining peace, security, and safety from air vulnerability for the American citizens. According to Boppana & George (2011), the provision of the essential resources of the US Air Force department is catered for during the annual preparation for the national budget. The essence of the security of the American people is evident from the heavy funding that the Air Force receives. The excessive funding is necessary for the production and maintenance of the facilities and resources such as the powerful airplanes utilized by the air force department in responding to airspace attacks and emergencies. For this reason, the provision of adequate resources and appropriate delegation of duty is imperative for the success of the US Air Force.
In conclusion, alternative key organizational effort that determines the success of the US Air Force includes the command structure and the training regime administered by the superiors in the Air Force. The command structure should be clearly defined from top to bottom to facilitate the transmission of commands and instructions from the superiors to the subordinates. A vibrant command structure promotes self-reliance in every member of the Air Force, that eliminates time wastage and confines himself or herself to the guideline provided by the command structure. The forms of communications adopted in the organization define the success of the command structure. It is for this purpose that the US Air Force should adopt top-bottom kind of communication to eradicate all the disadvantages of other forms of communication. In addition, the training methods should be intensive and highly organized. This calls for maximum dedication and commitment from the recruits and the existent members of the US Air Force. Every minuscule detail should be taken into consideration because it determines the long-term success of the Air Force of the United States.
